Rain98 has been officially delayed from its previously planned 2026 release window to 2027, according to a new development update from director Shoon T.
Shoon T apologized for the additional delay, acknowledging the project had already been postponed once. Development has taken longer than expected, particularly in building players’ relationship with Reina.
The team wants the time players spend with Reina to influence how they connect with the story and its characters. However, implementing that approach consistently across the full game has required additional development time.
Shoon T also acknowledged that the team underestimated the amount of work involved and took responsibility for the revised schedule.
The announcement follows the release of Rain98’s demo on October 17. Since then, the developers have been collecting player feedback concerning the story, gameplay, and areas that may need further clarification or adjustment.
That feedback will also inform the next major demo update, currently planned for early 2027. The update will add more story content, giving players another chance to experience the game’s development before its full release.
Although the team is targeting 2027, it has not announced a specific release date. Shoon T said the team will share a firm date once it has a more reliable schedule.
