It's a great day to be a Pikmin player as Nintendo kicked off Halloween with a bunch of Pikmin updates and a new holiday. Shigeru Miyamoto even proclaimed November 1 to be Pikmin Day, which seems to mean that it'll be an ongoing holiday.

If that's actually the case, then it looks like the future is bright for Pikmin, and with a new release coming in November, it's the perfect time to try the series if you're unfamiliar with it.

In addition to announcing the holiday, Nintendo gave updates about Pikmin 4 on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Pikmin Bloom. The company also included a reminder in its presentation that every Pikmin game is available for purchase on the Nintendo Store for both the Switch 1 and Switch 2, giving you the chance to pick up hours of adorable little plant creatures.

Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Release and Pikmin Bloom Update

The two main points from today's direct are about Pikmin 4 and Pikmin Bloom. Pikmin 4 was originally released in 2023, but it's now making its way to the Switch 2. The full Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4 with Dandori Academy will be released on November 12, but you'll be able to play the demo as early as November 2. If you're looking to try the demo, you can expect to play through one regular level and two Dandori levels.

Pikmin Bloom is the franchise's mobile game, and it's going to be receiving some big updates of its own moving forward. Secret caves are coming to the game, which you can find by picking up maps. Once you have a map that shows you the location of a cave, you can send your Pikmin there to fight and find treasure. The caves are set to be added later this year.

The full Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4 with Dandori Academy will be released on November 12, but you'll be able to play the demo as early as November 2.

Interestingly, Pikmin 4 can be used to find maps for your Pikmin Bloom game, letting you work towards more cave explorations and treasure hunts while you're in the Pikmin universe beyond Bloom. I always love seeing games within the same series offer perks like this, and it's a fun way to encourage players to explore other games in the series.

November Is a Big Month for Gaming

Pikmin 4's Switch 2 version is far from the only game being released in November, and the entire month is stacked with some of the most anticipated games of 2026. Releasing Pikmin 4 on November 12 gives players who are also planning to play GTA 6 about a week, which could work in the game's favor since everybody will be finding ways to pass the time until they can play GTA 6 anyway. However, you also have The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's remake releasing on November 5, a week ahead of Pikmin 4 and two weeks before GTA 6.

Stellar Blade is also coming to the Switch 2 on November 5. For players who want some more nostalgia, you also have the Shrek 2 remaster being released on consoles and PC on November 10. Then, there's Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered being released on November 3. World of Warcraft: Forever is also coming on November 4.

I don't know who decided that November 2026 was going to be stacked with game releases and nostalgia, but there's enough that you can find a game that you want to try, even if it's not Pikmin 4. The upcoming releases actually cover a huge range of age groups and styles, giving every player something to look forward to.

I have no way of knowing how you feel about this upcoming November, but I can tell you that between the holiday season and games being released, my wallet is trembling in fear. Happy Pikmin Day!
