For the first time, more than 700 games were released on Steam in a single week; however, 74% received fewer than 10 reviews.

According to data from ICO Partners CEO Thomas Bidaux, 720 games launched on the platform last week – "a month earlier than expected."

Of these, 530 titles had zero to nine reviews, while 190 received ten or more. Further analysis shows 95 games received 50+ reviews, 62 had 100+ reviews, and 10 had 1,000+ reviews.

These figures overlap, as games with 1,000 reviews are included in the 50+ and 100+ categories.

As Amir Satvat noted during Gamescom Dev's opening keynote last week, Steam saw approximately 12,000 releases in the first half of 2026, a 19% year-on-year increase.

Meanwhile revenue for the period reached $11.1 billion, according to Alinea Analytics.

In 2025, 20,000 games were released on Steam. Satvat noted that "only 3% of those games, about 600, have a hundred or more peak CCU."

Last year, a whitepaper from PC distribution platform Rokky found that over half of developers felt they relied too heavily on Steam, and 72% believed the platform holds a monopoly in the games market.
